چکیده

Capsule Background: Lymphotoxin-alpha (LTA) is involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Results: The P2Y2 nucleotide receptor (P2Y2R) recruits filamin A to activate Rho signaling upstream of LTA secretion leading to intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 expression. Conclusion: P2Y2R regulates LTA gene activation and secretion in vascular smooth muscle cells. Significance: This suggests that P2Y2R is an important regulator of vascular inflammation.

Raf Kinase Inhibitor Protein (RKIP) Inhibits Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) Induced Adhesion Molecules Expression in Vascular Smooth Muscle Bells by Suppressing (Nuclear Transcription Factor-κB (NF-kappaB) Pathway

BACKGROUND Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) regulates growth and differentiation and plays a role in key signal transduction cascades in mammalian cells. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism for which RKIP regulates cell-cell adhesion remains unknown. Our study investigated the function of the RKIP overexpression on adhesion molecules expression induced by tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α in ...

Endothelial cells on the proliferation and expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 and interleukin 8 of vascular smooth muscle cells.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of activated endothelial cells on the proliferation and secretion of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Cultured lung microvascular endothelial cells were treated with or without tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α; 10 ng/mL) for 6 h, and the supernatant was collected and filtered. The supernatant with TNF-α was called fluid A, and that w...

Effects of C-reactive protein on human pulmonary vascular cells in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is characterised by proximal pulmonary vascular obstruction by thrombo-fibrotic material, the origin of which has not been elucidated. Enhanced inflammation could contribute to persistent obstruction by impairing pulmonary vascular cell function in CTEPH. We investigated C-reactive protein (CRP) effects on pulmonary vascular cell function in...

Bilirubin Prevents Atherosclerotic Lesion Formation in Low‐Density Lipoprotein Receptor‐Deficient Mice by Inhibiting Endothelial VCAM‐1 and ICAM‐1 Signaling

BACKGROUND Numerous epidemiological studies support an inverse association between serum bilirubin levels and the incidence of cardiovascular disease; however, the mechanism(s) by which bilirubin may protect against atherosclerosis is undefined. The goals of the present investigations were to assess the ability of bilirubin to prevent atherosclerotic plaque formation in low-density lipoprotein ...
